This piece of sapele is barely hiding a dining room table just waiting to be born. It's 1.5 inches thick, 35.5 inches wide and 106 inches (nearly 9 feet) long. Sapele's rich golden to dark reddish brown color often darkens with age. Sapele is also known for a wide variety of figured grain patterns, such as pommele, quilted, mottled, wavy, beeswing, and fiddleback. This wood is occasionally used as a substitute for genuine mahogany and is sometimes referred to as “Sapele Mahogany.”
